FULL ITINERARY: 4 DAYS PRE CRUISE ANGKOR WAT TOUR

Day 1: Arrival Siem Reap - Ta Prohm - Apsara Dance Show (Dinner)
Arrive Siem Reap in afternoon flight, Siem Reap – Treasures of the Kingdom of Cambodia, special welcome all warmly to everybody, a moment of courtesy meeting then self-introduce with our Cambodian tour guide in the meeting point's Siem Reap. You are met our guide and transfer to hotel for check in.
We continue to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. Ta Prohm has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, the riotous power of nature marches on, oblivious to the dramas of human history. Left as it was ‘discovered’ by French explorer Henri Mouhout in 1860, the tentacle-like tree roots here are slowly strangling the surviving stones, man first conquering nature to create, nature later conquering man to destroy.

Welcome dinner with Apsara Dance show at local restaurant.
For those travelers thirsting for cultural highlights of Cambodia, No visit to Cambodia is complete without attending at least one traditional Khmer dance performance, often referred to as 'Apsara Dance' after one of the most popular Classical dance pieces. Traditional Khmer dance better described as 'dance-drama' in that the dances are not merely dance but also meant to convey a story or message.

Day 2: Angkor Thom - Bayon - Angkor Wat (Breakfast)
We hop on our bike to world heritage areas on the roads less travelled. Ride among the jungle passing local village and local shop. It’s a very special and acting day as you will explore some of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. You will visit the West Gate of Angkor Thom – undiscovered by mass tourist.

•   The ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century)
•   See the South Gate, Bayon Temple – unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara
•   Baphuon temple lying just to the north of Bayon a pyramidal representation of mythical Mont Meru
•   The Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas
•   The Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King

We journey out to the Mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Believed to be the world's largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers. Built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II, this is most famous temple at Angkor. We stay at Angkor Wat to enjoy a picnic breakfast. As the crowds return to their hotels, we venture into Angkor Wat to enjoy its magnificence in peace and quiet. We begin by unraveling the mysteries of the bas-reliefs that tell of tales from Hindu mythology and of the glories of the Khmer empire. Stretching for almost one km, these intricate carvings are a candidate for the world’s longest unbroken piece of art.

Day 3: Sunrise - Banteay Srei - Kbal Spean  (Breakfast)
A not to be missed sunrise at Angkor Wat. Following sunrise we go straight to the ancient city of Angkor. Banteay Srei: nearly everyone's favorite site. The special charm of this temple lies in its compact size, remarkable state of preservation, and the excellence of it decorative carving. Visit Kbal Spean, it is literally means "The head of the River.” It is one of the rivers in 1000 Lingas that made up of unique Lingas. Lingas stands into the riverbed of the Siem Reap River. It was believed that the Lingas spiritually "fertilized” the waters that fed the Eastern bay and irrigated the rice fields. Banteay Samre: Its rose-colored sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer.

RV Mekong Prestige II Reviews

  • 7 Nights on RV Mekong Prestige II

...We had a 7 day cruise in March 2014. From Siem Reap to Saigon on RV Mekong Prestige II. The boat was new this year. Very interesting excursions in the morning and afternoon along the Mighty Mekong River. The crew were delightful and went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time.

The food was good, and varied. - Bear in mind that the food is Asian, which we love - but others were less adaptable. The boat was not full, and there was lots of space both in the sun and in the shade. It is really great to relax after visit the Legend Angkor Wat Temples. I do not normally like the idea of cruises, but this was a great way to seen Cambodia and Vietnam Read More...

  • Thanks for the wonderful journey

I would like to reiterate what others have said of the Mekong Prestige II. It's more like a family than passengers and crew, that's how we were made to feel. The crew from Captain down to the laundry lady couldn't do enough for us. Every off shore excursion we were escorted not only by excellent tour guides but members of the crew to make sure we were looked after. We had so much fun on our journey from Vietnam to Cambodia. As for the food, and there was plenty of Vietnamese and Khmer food, I can hardly describe how fantastic that was in variety, and presentation, comparable to any first class restaurant. As a world traveller this was one of our best experiences Read More.

  • Explore Vietnam and Cambodia

...Mekong Prestige was fantastic. A relaxing way to see parts of Vietnam and Cambodia. The crew couldn't do enough for you to make sure you were comfortable. Our cabin had plenty of storage, including for cases. The food was varied and plentiful.... Breakfast was a buffet, but other meals were served by the delightful waiters. Coffee etc was available on the sun deck all day... Everyday there was a different cocktail before dinner. In Phnom Penh the local orphanage provide the evenings entertainment with singing and dancing, they were as good as the professional show we saw later in Siem Reap as they so obviously enjoyed showing us their skills. The crew, Vietnamese and Cambodian, presented a show on the last night. The Vietnamese and Cambodian guides were superb Read More...

  • A Big Thank for RV Mekong Prestige II

...completed an 8 day river cruise on board RV Mekong Prestige II from Ho Chi Min City (Vietnam) to Siem Reap (Cambodia), organised by Mekong Prestige II Online. It is easy to pay online, get confirmation, cabin number and embarkation contacts.
The boat was excellent - well maintained, clean with modest but adequate size cabins and large very well fitted en-suites. The crew members from Vietnam and Cambodia provided outstanding customer service which is sadly lacking in Australia. We learned a lot of history, cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia. The food was excellent - a range of Asian and western cuisine. This was a comfortable way to be exposed to this very interesting part of the world and we highly recommend RV Mekong Prestige II for my family Read More...
